Take your first step to a career in digital technology

Unsure how to get a job in the tech industry? Have you been recently made unemployed? Is your job currently at risk or are you just looking for a fresh start? StepIn2Tech can provide you with a mentored pathway to a career in the technology sector.

StepIn2Tech – and begin your journey!

StepIn2Tech is a new digital skills training programme developed by Microsoft Ireland, in partnership with FIT, that will equip 10,000 people with the digital skills required to transfer to emerging and in-demand roles within the digital economy. Whilst StepIn2Tech was developed in response to the displacement of thousands of workers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it also supports those who have either recently left school or college or are mid-career and interested in developing their digital skills. StepIn2Tech aims to bridge a growing skills gap within the Irish economy by providing learners with much sought after technical skills that will open up a range of new opportunities – from further training and education to gain an entry level role in the growing technology sector, to helping to drive digital transformation in a traditional sector.

After signing-up you will have the opportunity to benchmark and build your digital skills through an engaging and supportive online learning platform guided by a dedicated mentor, your Digi-Chaperone. Once your course is completed you can then take the next step in your pathway to a career in the technology sector.

In-demand careers waiting for you!

In a growing tech sector, there are several key job roles where the demand for skilled workers outstrips the current supply. StepIn2Tech aims to guide you to jobs which meet your career ambitions providing you with both technical and valuable soft skills (CV writing and interview techniques), to help you succeed and prosper in the tech sector. Below are just some of the roles you may be interested in pursuing a career in:

Your passport to a digi-future

During the programme you will have the opportunity to gain tech credentials to demonstrate your competencies and acknowledge the digital skills and professional development you have achieved.

Benefits of the programme

"The pandemic has resulted in thousands of people being displaced either temporarily or permanently from their jobs across the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors in particular. While managing public health remains a priority, there is also now a focus on driving an inclusive and sustainable economic recovery. The reality is that this recovery will have digital at its core as the economy is increasingly powered by technology. The acceleration in digital transformation of traditional and new companies and sectors over recent months has unlocked new areas of employment - ranging from digital marketing to cloud services. "

"That’s why we’ve partnered with Fastrack to IT to create a bespoke training programme that equips those recently made unemployed or temporarily displaced with the digital skills that match today’s and tomorrow’s in-demand jobs. For many people, they won’t previously have considered a role in technology. The StepIn2Tech courses are designed to show people that technology is now part of almost every job – and having even basic digital skills opens up loads of opportunities. This is about accessible learning, with plenty of supports for people who are new to the area."
