Get the Digital Skills you need to get back to work

The COVID-19 pandemic has created an economic crisis, forcing tens of millions of people out of work globally. As economies start to reopen, some jobs may not come back, at least not fast enough to meet demand. The jobs that do come back will require more digital skills.

That’s why Microsoft, LinkedIn, and GitHub have created the Global Skills Initiative.

How will the Global Skills Initiative help?

In a post-COVID-19 world, all people—especially those from the hardest hit industries and most vulnerable communities—will need to learn new skills to rejoin the workforce and be prepared for in-demand roles in an increasingly digital economy.

By bringing together the best resources to support this recovery, including using data to understand the most in-demand roles, offering learning and certifications for those roles, and equipping job seekers with tools to help them get hired, the Global Skills Initiative will help 25 million people worldwide who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19 to reskill for in-demand roles.

FIT is delighted to help Microsoft to drive this initiative in Ireland by encouraging learner engagement and contributing to the greater collective impact.

How do I get started?

For 21 years, FIT has been committed to supporting Irish jobseekers to upskill and secure a role in the growing tech sector. But now is the time to double-down on those efforts and build partnerships that help job seekers reskill and rejoin the workforce.

The Global Skills Initiative is a natural next step for those who have already completed StepIn2Tech, Microsoft Ireland’s innovative digital skills training programme that was developed in partnership with FIT and supported by Prodigy Learning, or for those who are looking to digitally upskill or reskill .
