2024 saw many lives changed for the better because of FIT. Over the last year, we continue to see the incredible impact that Tech Apprenticeships and Traineeships are having on talented individuals, and the organisations they work for. We also see that our numerous diversity and inclusion initiatives are giving learners incredible career opportunities.
2024 saw our 841st Tech Apprentice join the FIT Tech Apprenticeship programme, helping to grow Ireland’s tech talent pipeline through the three Tech Apprenticeship Programmes: Software Development, Computer Networking, and Cybersecurity.
The FIT Tech Apprenticeship Employer team onboarded their 235th employer since the programme’s inception. We work with companies of all of sizes, from a range of industries around Ireland, helping to grow tech-savvy teams efficiently. The ‘Choose Tech’ taster programme celebrated its 214th participating school, working with DEIS and Youthreach schools from around Ireland. The Choose Tech programme aims to inspire young people to learn and develop new and existing skills and to provide support and information around the pathways available to a tech career including pre-tech and tech apprenticeships.
Over 3,560 learners benefited from “Core Employment Supports” throughout 2024, and over 504 learners were placed in quality employment by FIT Training & Employment officers nationally. Get in touch to learn more about any of the Core activities or to get involved in 2025.
Since it’s launch in Q4, the new Cuimsiú Programme has benefited 23 learners, supporting inclusive workplaces nationally. The Cuimsiú Programme is set up specifically to support neurodivergent and disabled people on a pathway to employment that works for them. We also support employers in their own efforts to become more inclusive with a free suite of online and in person training throughout the year. We’re already looking forward to the numerous collaborations, programme implementations, diversity and inclusion initiatives, student progressions, and employer events in 2025.
