About the Course - White Goods Field Service Technician QQI Level 6

Participants complete a 36-week training programme which incorporates an extensive work placement via White Goods Association members. The course is run by FIT with the support of Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) in a new state-of-the art training centre in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath. All participants who completed the training pilot gained quality employment with industry partners.

Creating a new generation of skilled repair technicians

In 2021, FIT, WEEE Ireland, and the White Goods Association came together to create a curriculum and formal career pathway for field service technicians to attract new entrants and create a steady supply into the sector to address a growing requirement with regard to maintenance, repair and recycling of white goods.  

This initiative has helped kickstart a change in the electrical repair culture in Ireland with this first-of-a-kind training programme, designed to free the bottleneck that has arisen, with no new technicians due to limited access to structured training programmes. it has opened new and rewarding careers for all who have a general interest in environmental sustainability especially in prolonging the life cycle of our white goods

This initiative was originally supported by a grant from the CIRCULÉIRE Innovation fund. CIRCULÉIRE is Ireland’s first industry-led innovation network dedicated to accelerating the circular economy.
