Workforce week

Workforce Week is back again, running from the 8th to June 12. The weeklong program equips individuals who face barriers to employment with the soft skills and technical training they need to get (and keep) well-paying jobs.

Workforce Week is an annual program founded by Workday, a global leader in solutions software.  Due to Covid-19, Workforce Week will be held online.

FIT students attending Workforce Week 2020

This is the first year that Salesforce will be participating in Workforce week, an exciting addition to the panel of sponsors. Workday and Salesforce employees volunteer to spend time with over 72 FIT apprentices and job seekers who are experiencing barriers to employment to help create economic opportunity. Through one-on-one video conversations, Workday and Salesforce volunteers will help provide job search advice, conduct mock-interviews, and instil confidence in individuals in our communities seeking employment in the tech sector. FitVision, an online wellness provider, will be running workshops on managing wellbeing during lockdown.

This year’s Workforce Week is a virtual experience due to COVID-19. With the impact that the pandemic has had on unemployment in Ireland, it’s more important than ever that today’s apprentices and job seekers are equipped with the skills and connections needed to land a life-changing job.

This year we are delighted that 72 FIT students have signed up for at least three workshops each; these students will benefit from exposure to exciting career possibilities. They will participate in workshops focused on learning about new career pathways, gaining in-demand skills, and expanding their networks.

Last year, FIT & Workday ran a hugely successful workshop as part of Workforce Week 2019 in their Dublin HQ. The half-day workshop showcased the dynamic of working as part of team and how soft skills are at the core of tech careers. With more than 40 FIT supported students in attendance on the day, feedback from the event was astonishing with over 94% rating the event as ‘Excellent’.
