Course Aim

The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to design, develop and test software components and systems in a workplace environment, working as a team member under supervision, while contributing to the workflow for the finished product.

Career Options Students may wish to undertake further study in this area or gain employment in the I.T. field. Third Level Progression: Software Development with Games Design with allows wide progression into numerous Computing related degrees at Third Level. These include: • TU Dublin- Tallaght accept this course for all its Computing and Engineering related courses including Computing TU756, Information Technology Management TU759 and Engineering Software TU715. • TU Dublin- Grangegorman offer Computer Science TU856 and Game Design TU984 amongst other courses that follow on from this award. • UCD have a degree programme Computer Science DN201 which accepts this award. Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme, Leaving Certificate
Applied Programme, QQI Level 4 or equivalent.
• Work/life experience is acceptable for mature students.
• Students should be 16 years or over at the start of the course.
