Employability Mentor (Cuimsiú Programme – FIT)

FIT (Fastrack into Information Technology) is a national charity working with industry, education, and community partners to grow Ireland’s tech talent pipeline. Our mission is to ensure that people from all backgrounds can access in demand technology skills and quality employment, contributing to an inclusive and sustainable smart economy. We are now recruiting an Employability Mentor for our Cuimsiú Programme, a national access and career progression initiative supporting people who may be at risk of under or long-term unemployment due to disability. This programme provides personalised training pathways, career development support, and employer engagement—grounded in the social model of disability and human rights.

What You’ll Do
As an Employability Mentor, you will play a key role in empowering participants by providing tailored mentoring, guidance, skills development, and advocacy support. You will work collaboratively within a supportive team to help each person progress toward certified training, employment, or other meaningful next steps.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Empowerment & Participant Support

  • Support participants through a structured, person-centred mentoring process that enables them to reach their full potential.
  • Work with empathy, flexibility, and respect for diverse experiences.

Training Facilitation & Workshops

  • Deliver workshops both online and in person across FIT locations.
  • Deliver and develop content for a six module national work preparation programme (CV development, interview skills, growth mindset, soft skills, and more).

Career Development & Advocacy

  • Advocate for each participant’s unique career goals and support them through the recruitment process.
  • Work 1:1 with participants during training and for up to 6 months upon completion of Cuimisu.

Employer Engagement

  • Engage with over 250 inclusive, industry aligned employers to support job matching and needs analysis.

Programme Administration

  • Maintain accurate weekly and monthly records and CRM documentation.
  • Contribute to reporting, data collection, and participation in Pobal sessions.
  • Attend weekly team meetings.
  • Attend meetings at the discretion of your line manager.

Who We’re Looking For
We value lived experience, diverse perspectives, and transferable skills. If you feel you meet most—but not all—of the criteria, we still encourage you to apply.

Essential

  • NFQ Level 6+ qualification in Social Care, Psychology, Community Work, Human Rights, Occupational Therapy, or similar. 5 years’ work experience in a related field also considered.
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, disabled people, or people progressing into employment or youth work.
  • Understanding of best practice in equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud delivered databases.

Highly Desirable

  • Familiarity with Pobal CRM or community development best practice.
