Youthreach Dean Street General Learning Level 4

Course Aim

Based in Cork City beside St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, Cork College of FET Dean Street Youthreach Centre is a full-time alternative education setting for young people aged between 16-20 years old. 15 year olds can be enrolled with approval from senior management and referral letter from EWO, school or social worker.

This is an opportunity for young people to build confidence, gain qualifications, get a training allowance and prepare for future training and employment options. Students will complete QQI level 4 in General Learning which will enable them to progress to PLC college, apprenticeship or employment.

Requirements

Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative.
