Tech Apprenticeship Officers (Leinster, Munster and Connacht)

Location: Leinster, Munster and Connacht

Salary: 35K

Working Hours: 39 hours per week. Typical working day is 8.30am – 5.00 pm but the post holder will be required to work outside normal working hour (i.e. evenings and weekends) on occasion.

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Primary responsibility: supporting the successful introduction, promotion and deployment of ICT Associate Professional Apprenticeship Programme, the new national Tech Apprenticeship programme being implemented by FIT in collaboration with the National Apprenticeship Council, SOLAS, Education and Training Boards, ETBI, ICT Ireland and the wider tech sector. Key performance indicators will be the effective engagement of tech companies leading to the securement of industry sponsors for an initial 250 Apprentices wishing to pursue an Apprenticeship route to a professional career in the sector.


Duties & Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Widely promote and disseminate the concept and benefits of ICT Associate Professional Apprenticeship programme to technology employers in the private and public sectors.
  • Identify and engage IT employer organisations to become sponsors of FIT ICT Associate Professional Apprenticeship programme which is a two year dual education initiative.
  • Help develop and execute an effective campaign to incrementally grow employer participation in the Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Liaise with Education and Training Boards, candidates and Apprentices as deemed appropriate.
  • Secure the participation and agreement from companies to sponsor apprentices on the programme.
  • Where necessary, cold call companies and identify the hiring managers, technology leads and or HR contacts within each company.
  • Attend industry partner meetings, networking events and industry events to profile the ICT Associate Professional Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Actively approach and collaborate with Industry Representative Bodies educating them on the ICT apprenticeship concept.
  • Understand the technology sector priorities with regard to specific resourcing requirements and skills demands.

Co-ordinate the host company involvement in the apprenticeship recruitment process.

  • Manage and assist industry partners to ensure they fulfill programme requirements and operating procedures of the ICT Associate Professional Programme.
  • Administration
  • Update the database with all new contacts, business details and their key requirements.
  • Provide weekly status report on new business and pipeline activity

Research & Evaluation

  • Research market trends and update FIT management team on a regular basis with a view to influencing changes to FIT supports, curricula, etc.
  • Evaluate the programme at the end of each semester and provide feedback/make recommendations to the FIT management team on opportunities to improve the programme.
  • Commitment to owning, developing and improving the ICT Associate Professional programme and work in conjunction with FIT management to proactively identify challenges and threats which may have a negative impact on programme success.


  • Plan and prepare presentations to both prospective and established industry partners.
  • Develop marketing literature which best promotes FIT service offering specifically in relation to ICT Associate Professional.
  • Supporting the marketing and promotional of ICT Associate Professional apprentice candidates to prospective employers.

  • A fast learner with an ability to learn new concepts and has an insatiable curiosity for what is happening in the business market
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Good writing and reporting skills
