Meeting Social Needs of Senior Citizens through Web 2.0 Technologies

Website:  www.learnweb2.com

Web 2.0 technologies are a new wave of innovation that is rapidly changing the way we live, work, learn and interact. There is a growing evidence that digital technology can greatly enhance both quality of services and quality of life – particularly for the most disadvantaged citizens and communities. A key issue to the digital engagement of senior citizens is their motivation towards ICT and the benefits from using ICT by the target group.

The aim of this project is to enhance lives of senior citizens through the effective use of Web 2.0 technologies by focussing on their individual social and personal needs to facilitate their full inclusion in the digital age.

The project will delvelop:

  • A Roadmap for Social Computing by Senior Citizens that will help education providers and trainers assess, plan and apply Web 2.0 tools into learning of senior citizens
  • A set of innovative learning tools and resources designed to help older learners acquire new ICT skills
  • Training materials and resources for trainers

Project Co-ordinator:

  • FIT Ltd.

Project Partners:

  • County Meath VEC, Ireland
  • MFKK Invention and Research Centre Services, Hungary
  • En.A.I.P. Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy
