Course Aims

Behind every organisation imaginable there are office employees. This programme is designed for those considering a career in an office environment. It provides the core computer, administrative and communication skills necessary to successfully secure employment in a modern office. In addition, the skills gained on the course are transferable to many other career areas making it an ideal choice for those who are unsure of what to do career wise.

Progression to Further Education and Higher Education

Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Administration (Office Management) at KCFE. Alternatively, graduates may compete for entry to Institutes of Technology and Universities. Examples include Bachelor of Arts (UCC), Bachelor of Commerce Degree (UCC), Business Information System (UCC), Business Information Management (IT Tralee) etc. [Subject to change].

Employment Prospects

This course qualifies you to work as an administrator, secretary, receptionist, personal assistant, clerical officer, etc. Work will be found in all types of office environments e.g. schools, hospitals, hotels, retail outlets, pharmaceutical companies, call centres etc. Past graduates are working in the offices of FEXCO, Dairymaster, Munster Joinery, Bons Secours Hospital, Kerry University Hospital, HSE, Kerry County Council, ETBs and the offices of several small and medium sized enterprises. The skills gained on this course can be taken into many work environments and are also suitable for those who plan to travel and work abroad in the future.
