Course Aims

These courses are designed to give learners a firm foundation in the skills required to work or study in the electronics industry. Learners will study computer programming and implement circuits in real time applications and design, build and test their own embedded control systems. Learners will study PC construction, installation and maintenance and are prepared for the internationally recognised CompTIA+ award. These courses are supported by FIT (Fast Track into IT) which is a unique IT led initiative that offers learners the opportunity to acquire essential skills to gain employment in the thriving IT sector. Learners are given training in job interview techniques and CV preparation. Visits to companies are also organised by FIT with a view to possible internships.
Graduates may progress to the Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Computing & Electronic Technology at DFEI. Graduates may also apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to a range of higher certificates and degree programmes at both Universities and Institutes of Technology.
Graduates have found employment in diverse areas such as: network support, software development, electronic service technician, test and repair technician, electronic and computer engineering, access control installation, self-employment.

Must be over 16 years & have completed the Leaving Certificate examination or relevant work experience.

Must demonstrate at interview the capacity to successfully participate on this programme.

International students must sit language test.
