Progression
CAD Technicians are employed by companies and organisations in various sectors, e.g. construction, structural and mechanical engineering, manufacturing, local authorities and architectural consultants. They generally work as part of an engineering, design or development team to produce the detailed 2D drawings and 3D models required at the various stages of a project’s design and implementation. They work closely with engineers, technicians, suppliers, quantity surveyors and clients.Requirements
Statutory school leaving age (16+)
QQI 4 Major Award, Leaving Certificate or equivalent standard with a pass in technical drawing and maths
Good communication & numerical skills
Competent written and spoken English (CEFR Level B1 or higher)
Good spatial visualization and form perception
Must have basic level of computer skills
Competency in performing conventional draughting tasks is desirable
Mature applicant route available
Non-EU/EEA applicants must have permission to work in Ireland
