Location: FIT Ltd, 7a Bellevue Industrial Estate, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

Salary:

Working Hours: 39 hours per week. Typical working day is 8.30am – 5.00 pm but the post holder will be required to work outside normal working hour (i.e. evenings and weekends) on occasion.

Reporting to: Director of ICT Associate Professional Tech Apprenticeship Programme.

Role & Context

FIT is the National Coordinator for the new NFQ Level 6 Tech Apprenticeship: ICT Associate Professional with a target intake of 250 Apprentices in 2018 rising to 1,000 by 2021. The Tech Apprenticeship Officer will have key responsibility for introduction, promotion and successful deployment of ICT Associate Professional Apprenticeship Programme amongst tech employers in Ireland.   

The main focus of the role will be:

To be a leading member of a Placement Team responsible for the effective engagement of tech employers leading to the securement of industry sponsors for 250 Tech Apprentices nationally in 2018 and rising to 1,000 sponsored participants by 2021.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Widely promote and disseminate the concept and benefits of the ICT Associate Professional Tech Apprenticeship Programme to technology employers in the private and public sectors.
  • Identify and engage IT employer organisations to become sponsors of the new Tech Apprenticeship which is a two year dual education programme resulting in a national award.
  • Secure the participation and agreement from companies to sponsor apprentices on the programme.
  • Help develop and execute an effective campaign to incrementally grow employer participation in the Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Where necessary, cold call companies and identify the hiring managers, technology leads and/or HR contacts within each company.
  • Attend industry partner meetings, networking events and industry events to profile the ICT Associate Professional Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Actively approach and collaborate with Industry Representative Bodies educating them on the ICT apprenticeship concept.
  • Understand the technology sector priorities with regard to specific resourcing requirements and skills demands.
  • Liaise with Education & Training Boards, tutors, candidates and apprentices etc. as deemed appropriate.

Marketing

  • Plan and prepare presentations to both prospective and established industry partners.
  • Supporting the marketing and promotion of ICT Associate Professional apprentice candidates to prospective employers.

Business Relationship Management

  • Co-ordinate host company involvement in the apprenticeship recruitment process.
  • Manage and assist industry partners to ensure they fulfil programme requirements and operating procedures of the ICT Associate Professional Programme.

Administration

  • Update the database with all new contacts, business details and their key requirements.
  • Provide weekly status reports on new business development and pipeline activity

Research & Evaluation

  • Research market trends and update FIT management team on a regular basis with a view to influencing changes to FIT supports, curricula, etc.
  • Commitment to owning, developing and improving the ICT Associate Professional Programme and work in conjunction with FIT management to proactively identify challenges and threats which may have a negative impact on programme success.

  • Focused, determined and target driven with excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective at cold calling, meeting people and chasing new business.
  • Able to set and adhere to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Problem Solver, entrepreneurial with a capacity for lateral thinking.
  • Capacity to effectively present FIT programmes in a variety of employer fora.
  • Time management and organizational skills to balance key tasks and relationships concurrently.
  • Self-motivated and driven with a genuine interest and belief in the process of helping people to change their lives through training and education.
  • A fast learner with an ability to learn new concepts and has an insatiable curiosity for what is happening in the business market.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with good writing and reporting skills
  • Full clean driving license with own transport
