Title: Training & Employment Officer (TEO)

Reporting To: Operations Manager and Senior TEO
General Summary:
The main role of the Training & Employment Officer (TEO) is to oversee the vocational / skills training and career development and mentoring of FIT participants. The TEO will be the first point of contact for FIT students and will monitor their progress while participating on FIT supported programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of Trainees for Courses

    This process involves holding information sessions in colleges/ training centres, processing applications, administering aptitude assessments and assisting the Colleges/ training centres with the interview / selection process.

  • Induction & Registration of FIT students

    The TEO will carry out registration and induction for each participant in accordance with FIT Procedures.

  • Online Training & Development Resources

    Each FIT student can access online Training & Development Resources such as Skillport. The TEO will register and induct learners in the use of all online training resources.

  • Total Quality Management (TQM) of FIT Programmes

    The TEO will TQM FIT supported programmes and the effective progression of learners from recruitment, through training to the attainment of certification and placement in industry. In this regard he/she will monitor the overall performance of participants while on FIT programmes and will ensure that the training provision and function adhere to programme criteria, certification requirements and professional standards.

  • Company Interaction

    The TEO will, through interaction with companies organise and facilitate company visits for all FIT students relating to their course caseload and where necessary support placement activities.

  • Career Progression and Employment Strategies

    The TEO supports career progression activities and employment strategies for all FIT participants through career advice, CV workshops, interview techniques, mock interviews, recruitment support etc. in preparation for internship/ employment and progression opportunities.

  • Ongoing Mentoring Supports

    The TEO with the support of the FIT Placement Team will assist graduates of FIT supported programmes secure internship and /or job placement opportunities as appropriate at the end of their course. Ongoing mentoring supports will be provided to FIT graduates for a period of up to three years after completion of a FIT programme. The TEO will continuously monitor the performance and progression of FIT graduates while on internship and in job placement and secure regular feedback from participants and companies during the mentoring period.

To support/engage with and actively assist ETB / FE providers operationalise FIT supported programmes at a local level – providing information and guidance on all aspects from training programme identification, to recruitment and selection, to quality auditing and performance appraisal.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full Clean Driving Licence


We seek applicants with the following qualifications:

  • 2 or more years’ experience in Team Development / Training, Recruitment / HR, Career Guidance or Mentoring.
  • A third level qualification in business, education or career guidance is desirable but not essential.
  • Exemplary communication / presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and work in partnership teams and with other organizations.
  • Time management and organizational skills to balance multiple projects, partners, concurrently.
  • Appreciation of education / training policy or related fields such as socio-economic policy.
  • Self-motivated and Highly Driven
  • A passion for positive social change and excellence in its achievement
