Course Aims


This well-established course provides a broad introduction to multimedia design and development. It is particularly relevant to those who are interested in pursuing a career in web, motion graphics or multimedia industries such as web design, e-graphics, multimedia production, graphic design or new media technologies.

The course also provides valuable foundation skills for further study in areas like computer sciences, multimedia, digital media and audio visual studies.

One of the main aims of this course is to prepare a comprehensive portfolio that will help students to progress via the FETAC Higher Education Links Scheme to courses such as (for example):

  • Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Digital Media - ITT Tallaght (TA022)
  • BA (Honours) in Design in Visual Communications - IADT (DL043)
  • BA (Honours) in Design - Visual Communications - DIT (DT545)
  • B.Sc. in Multimedia (Bachelor Honours Degree) - DCU (DC133)

Requirements


Open to those who have completed the Leaving Certificate or its equivalent. It is targeted at students with a specific interest in this sector who are willing to get involved and participate during the college year. Since places on the course are limited, applicants will be interviewed.

You may  be eligible to avail of a Back to Education Allowance (BTEA). The BTEA is an educational opportunities scheme for persons in receipt of certain social welfare payments and who wish to pursue an approved full-time second or third level course of education in an approved college leading to a recognised qualification.
