Course Aims


This Pre-University computer science course provide an opportunity to train for a rewarding career in the IT industry. Learners will develop the skills to be able to design, create and maintain websites, databases and computer networks, as well as the fundamentals of computer programming using C++, C#, PHP, Javascript and Visual Basic using Visual Studio, software architecture and technical support. These courses are supported by FIT (Fast Track into IT) which is a unique IT led initiative that offers learners the opportunity to acquire essential skills to gain employment in the thriving IT sector. Learners are given training training in job interview techniques and CV preparation. Visits to companies are also organised with a view to possible internships.

Graduates are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at both Universities and Institutes of Technology.

Graduates may find employment in OnLine Retailing, Website Development, Site Maintenance, Software Development, Computer Programming, Networking Sales, IT operations Technicians, IT User Support Technicians, Network Administration and Network Security.

Requirements


Must be over 16 years & have completed the Leaving Certificate examination or relevant work experience.

Must demonstrate at interview the capacity to successfully participate on this programme.

International students must sit language test.
