Course Aims


This course is designed to develop the existing skills of learners who have completed a Level 5 course in one of the following areas: Office Administration, Computer Studies, Information Processing or Business. The course is designed to allow the learner to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the general area of office management. The learners will receive specialist training in up to date Microsoft Office applications and Office Administration as well as developing speed and advanced accuracy in text production. In addition this course provides a range of core subjects which are essential to the understanding of Business and Office environments.
 
Graduates are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme to a range of higher certificate and degree programmes, at both Universities and Institutes of Technology.
 
Graduates may seek employment in administration, customer service, payroll/accounts, secretarial, frontline management, and receptionist roles. These positions are available in solicitor's offices, medical practices/hospitals, financial service industry, education, tourism, call centres, insurance/banks, local authorities, offices in both the private and public sectors.

Learners will have the option of undertaking an additional class in digital interactive documentation, Using the industry standard, Adobe Acrobat programme, a range of pdfs can be produced for either screen, web or print. 
 
Interactive fillable forms and digital newsletters etc. featuring drop down menus, interactive buttons, check boxes, digital signatures, attachments, security and audio comments are all covered. This is an extremely useful skill to have for document creation and management in today's office environment.

Requirements


Must be over 16 years & have completed the Leaving Certificate examination or relevant work experience.

Must demonstrate at interview the capacity to successfully participate on this programme.

International students must sit language test.
