Course Aims


Graduates will have the necessary skills to secure employment in the games and computer graphics industries. This course offers school leavers considering a career in the games industry the opportunity to progress to further studies.

  • Object Oriented Programming (C# - Integrated Unity Programming)

Learners will gain the knowledge and skills to:

  • Understand gaming concepts
  • Conceptualise and storyboard a game
  • Apply creative design principles
  • Create games stage and objects platforms
  • Design, build and program games
  • Create assets for use on multiple platforms
  • Produce 3D objects and illustrated graphics

Requirements


Leaving Certificate/LCA

  • Applicants should have achieved five passes at ordinary level including English and Maths or have achieved a Level 5 QQI qualification. LCA applicants should submit details of credits awarded.
    • Applicants will also have to present a selection of their best creative work at an advisory meeting.  This selection should comprise of a maximum of five examples of their best creative work, in any format, sketched or digital. Ideally, it should include some diversity including hand drawings, photographs of work completed (e.g. clay, 3D or wood models etc.), simple programming examples, e.g., Scratch or similar. Essentially the selection of work chosen should enable applicants to express an aptitude for the Games Design and Development course. Please note that it is not necessary to have an art qualification.
