Course Aims


YEAR 1

The Certificate in Creative Multimedia course is structured so that the student will develop expertise in two related areas: Creative Multimedia and Web Design.

YEAR 2

Students who successfully complete Year 1 can opt to progress to the Advanced Certificate in Creative Multimedia and App Development.   

The Advanced Certificate Creative Multimedia and App Development builds on the skills acquired in Year 1 on the Certificate course. Learners acquire more in-depth knowledge and expertise in digital multimedia and develop expertise in new areas such as: content management systems (CMS), database development and audio/video production.

Requirements


Year 1

  • Leaving Certificate

Five passes, including English, on ordinary level papers.

  • Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme

 Applicants should submit details of achievements.

  • Mature Students (including VTOS and BTEA)

Applicants without the required Leaving Certificate requirements will be considered on the basis of experience, overall ability and aptitude.

  • Other Requirements

Applicants should have an aptitude for creativity and design, a keen interest in the various media formats and basic computing skills.  While a portfolio is not compulsory, applicants are advised to bring a portfolio to their advisory meeting.

For the morning's option, perference will be given to graduates from other disciplines who want to change career path and up-skill in the latest technologies.

Year 2

  • Prior Qualifications

Applicants should have obtained the Certificate in Creative Multimedia or equivalent.

  • Mature Students (including VTOS and BTEA)

Applicants without formal qualifications will be considered on the basis of experience and overall demonstrable ability.

  • Other Applicants

Applicants with proven high levels of motivation, ability and aptitude together with relevant work experience will be considered subject to an advisory meeting.
